Take
a quantity of shelled green peas, with onions, carrots, and turnips,
and a sprinkling of salt and pepper. Put them into a pot with a lid,
with a quantity of water corresponding to the quantity of soup
wanted, containing a few mutton or lamb chops. Let the mess boil
slowly, or simmer for five or six hours.
